DESCRIPTION:Presented by West Coast Tap Dance Collective \nWest Coast Tap Dance Collective is thrilled to host our annual celebration for International Tap Dance Day\, “About TIME\,” on Monday\, May 25 at The Massey Theatre. This year\, we will be honouring the incredible Valerie Easton\, recognizing her long and illustrious career as a dancer\, choreographer\, director\, and mentor. We feel it is truly “About TIME” that Valerie is celebrated for the profound impact she has made on dancers in our community. \nValerie has performed across Canada as a dancer on both stage and screen (check out some old CBC variety shows – you might be surprised where you’ll find her!). Beyond dancing\, she has choreographed and directed for Bard on the Beach\, Studio 58\, Theatre Under The Stars\, Gateway Theatre\, Western Canada Theatre\, Neptune Theatre and Applause Musicals. Her selected credits for The Arts Club Theatre include: Mamma Mia!\, Bittergirl\, A Christmas Story\, Billy Elliot\, West Side Story\, Les Misérables\, Red Rock Diner and 15 others! At Royal City Musical Theatre\, where she was also Artistic Director\, her credits include: Fiddler On The Roof\, Cabaret\, Will Rogers Follies\, Anything Goes\, Annie and Oklahoma\, to name just a few. Valerie is a multiple Ovation/Jessie nominee and winner and is considered one of Canada’s premier directors and choreographers. \nTo celebrate Valerie and the art of tap dancing\, this show will feature performers from all over the Lower Mainland\, including Royal City Musical Theatre\, and guests artists Jim Hibbard\, Shelley Stewart Hunt\, Meghan Anderssen\, Jordyn Lemire\, Jeffrey Dawson\, Natasha Dawson\, Tosh Sutherland\, and Riley Skworoda – with some additional surprises! We hope you can join us for an evening of dancing\, fun\, laughter\, and celebration.
